people want to learn

While your supporters expect fundraising appeals, what they really want is insight and analysis around your organization’s mission.

your organization is a newsroom too

You’re experts in your field. Don’t rely on traditional media to educate your supporters.

Blogging has never been more important

25%

Of people ages 25-34 read blogs every day.

2x

Brands that blog nearly double the amount of links that direct users back to their site!

3 hours 55 minutes

That’s how long it takes, on average, to write an effective blog post. That’s half a day for one of your staffers!

This is our 3-step approach:

What should your content look like?

What are your main issues? What do people know about them? What can you teach them? How can you break from conventional wisdom?

Step One is to break down your organization’s mission, programs and data to develop a comprehensive map of what it can teach people.

How will you distribute your content?

Great content means nothing if you don’t have a great plan to share it. Who are your main audience groups and where are they?

Step Two is to build a cost-effective plan to reach your targets through a combination of existing channels, partnerships and paid ads.

How do you build a lasting strategy?

Great newsrooms balance hard news, analysis and entertainment. Your goal is to inform, inspire and amuse!

Step Three is to identify and develop the talent at your organization, analyze existing data, test content ideas and launch a content strategy.

Our Story

Good people will fight if we lead them.

Hi, my name is Dimitri.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been inspired by causes. One my first jobs out of college was working at a group home for at-risk teenagers in Chicago.

After earning a master’s degree in public affairs reporting, I worked in the news industry for a decade, eventually becoming the managing editor of a daily newspaper in America’s heartland. I was drawn to stories of social justice and individual rights.

That brought me here. I launched 5:15 media so I could continue doing mission-driven work. I spent several years working with a national nonprofit startup dedicated to ending violent extremism.

Today I apply the lessons I’ve learned throughout my career to help nonprofits understand who they are so they can connect with like-minded individuals.

Together we really can change the world, one step at a time.

How nonprofits should promote themselves during the pandemic

Ignoring the crisis can make your organization seem deaf to the world. And putting your communications on hold can risk deepening your financial instability.

4-Step guide for creating content
for your website

Every website should have a blog — even if you don’t call it that. It’s a page on your website where you share content about the thing you do. So how do you decide what to write about?

What coffee sellers can teach us about marketing

Passionate people talk about their passion. Moving people to act is more about education than it is convincing. Your website should act the way you do in real life.
